What is the Current State of the Solar Industry?!

The solar industry has growing very rapidly in the last couple of decades.

And together with that also the prices for the solar panels come down very rapidly.

Many countries around the world are actively investing in this type of energy production.

Is solar power cost competitive today?

Stefan Reichelstein, William R. Timken professor of accounting at the Stanford Graduate School of Business and faculty explorer director of the Steyer-Taylor Center for Energy Policy and Finance, envisions a brilliant future for the solar voltaic industry in USA and in general everywhere in the world.

Germany brakes records for solar and wind power and is leader in the field! It has nearly as much solar power capacity as the rest of the world combined, although it is not a country that has a lot of sunny days throughout the year.

USA, based on various opinion polls and studies, concluded that one-third of the population supports the production of solar energy and wind energy, rather than that of oil and nuclear energy.

Least popular is the production of coal.

Proof of this is the fact that companies like Apple already have their own photovoltaic private solar power systems.

75% of the corporate facilities and data centers of Apple are powered by green energy, solar, wind hydro and geothermal power.

In 2012 Apple made the largest photovoltaic sequence, which can produce 42 million kWh of renewable energy each year. They don’t stop here. They creating also a second photovoltaic facility which should be in the function at the end of 2013.

They won’t stop, and hope that working on expansion and building of green clean energy facilities in USA and in the world, until they achieve 100 percent of their energy needs.

Saudi Arabia has perfect solar resources. The country will invest about $ 109 billion over the next 20 Years in the green energy sources like PV panels, solar thermal, wind and geothermal plants.

According to Alexander Lenz, president in the Middle East and Southeast Asia region, the main goal for results of renewable energy sources is the result: more than 54,000 megawatts in 2032 with 41,000 coming just from solar.

In Egypt, the land of the sun, there is insufficient use of solar energy. They plan to invest in this type of energy around a billion dollar with help of international grants on two large solar areas the Construction of Kuryamatt, 50-megawatt hybrid power area that will use both solar energy and natural gas to produce electricity and in Upper Egypt’s Kom Ombo.

Dubai has already made the world’s largest solar power plant, named Shams1, built by Shams Power Company.

China must be mentioned when it comes to investing in renewable energy.

China dedicated to investing in renewable energy resources to reduce its dependence of energy from the countries in the Middle East, but also to reduce the air pollution and contribute to environmental protection. The company Suntech, the main place of the country’s energy efforts has 10,000 employees in Wuxi, on China’s east coast.

There is one problem for all big company’s, which invest in this this kind of energy. It lies in building factories, not in managing the equipment.
